Shopping can be such a horrible time of the day. Most people I know, including myself, shop either in the early morning after opening or in the evening to avoid the mad rush of people in the remaining time slots. Life doesn't need to be that difficult in the modern age. Computers and internet allow us to do any manner of shopping at any time we wish both day and night. For the working class, it's our saving grace to be able work through the day and shop when we actually do have free time and not on a rushed luch break.
Ever had those nights when you can't be bothered to go out and shop but you know if you don't you'll go hungry for lack of anything in the kitchen? My grandmother used to make meals and save them away in the freezer. When they had overstayed their shelf life she would have to throw them out. I think the healthier choice lies in providing fresh food when it's needed and not in buying what you don't need to throw it away at a later date.
