The Christian religion the full of remarkable acts: water into wine, walking on water, healing the blind. There is a very long list of amazing miracles that have transpired though out the Bible. Many centuries after the recording of these events, faith is the main avenue of belief left to Christianity's followers. It is this belief that is Christianity's greatest strength and armor.

There are several instances within the bible where faith alone reportedly saved individuals from physical harm: Daniel in the lions den; Shadrach , Meshack and Abednego in the fiery furnace. In each case the individuals faced certain destruction at the hands of their enemies, yet through their faith in God they were saved. Christianity teaches the God is always with you even at the worst of times and that you must have faith that within time He will intervene in your behalf.

Faith in itself is a powerful instrument. Its been said the faith alone can move mountains, and while most mountains are still in place, on a more personal level there is plenty of proof that faith can cause remarkable change in an individual. There are countless cases where faith has cured disease, removed mental illnesses, even reversed terminal conditions. There are numerous cases where entire congregations of Christians have prayed for a certain individual's health and, miraculously, that person's illness has gone into remission. In Christianity faith manifests itself in many areas, but it is in prayer that it's effect is most evident.

Before children even learn about Christianity they lean to pray. Prayers before meals and at bedtime are standards in just about every Christian household. Christians are taught that if one's faith is strong enough prayers will be answered. They are taught that prayer alone is not enough; that faith is essential for prayers to be answered. That there should be a relationship between the individual and God for prayers to be answered: "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you." - John 15,7

The earliest prayers are for protection and thanks, later, prayers turn to requests for intervention and/or for boons. Behind each request there is the underlying belief, based on faith, that god will intercede in their behalf. Such is the nature of strong faith that even when no intervention materializes, the individual still believes.

Faith is not based on results but rather on the feeling of trust in God. In Christianity, faith is not quantified: "if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." -Matthew 17:19-20
