With the proliferation of many fake and knockoff designer bags in the market, people are starting to doubt if they are actually getting the real deal especially if these were bought from auction sites or unknown, unreliable sources. It is very much important to ensure that the hard-earned dollars you used to pay for these designer bags is getting you the authentic one.

You may have had your eye on a particular designer bag that you know for sure your dear friends will envy. You felt good because you were able to get it with a large discount. But then you wonder if you are indeed getting the real deal.

Determining whether your designer bag is authentic or not can be a tricky one as you will typically find many of the replicas and knockoffs to look almost exactly like the authentic kind. Many expert fake spotters are even saying that with how counterfeiters are making the fake designer bags currently, it is quite hard to determine which from which as they are getting good at copying almost every little detail to make the knockoff look as genuine and authentic as possible. But having knowledge of the basics will help you spot a fake in a matter of seconds even.

Take a close look at the bag itself. Designer handbags are expensive primarily because of the quality material that is used in making them. Pay close attention to the stitching. There should be no missed or loose stitches and the stitches as well must be spaced evenly. The thread's color must match with the color of the bag. If the bag's material is made of leather, the logo is not only printed but engraved as well on it.

Pay attention as well to the bag's hardware. The hardware should be scratch free and should match in color. Many of the designer bag's hardware are protected by a plastic cover that can be removed after purchase. The hardware is engraved with the brand name or logo and it is not merely printed or embossed. The logo or brand is engraved as well on most designer bag straps.

Carefully inspect the material of the bag's lining, accents and hardware. It can come in various types of leather from goatskin, lambskin, patent leather and calfskin but one can easily distinguish if it is made of low quality leather. Satin is usually used as a lining material with the logo or brand name on the lining. Leather accents are typically used.

Most manufacturers include with their authentic goods an authenticity card. This authenticity card generally contains information about the purchased product, with manufacturer's logo embossed on it and it sometimes comes with a bar code or magnetic strip. Check as well for the bag's serial number although not all manufacturers use such.
