Most National Football League players sign contracts and agree to play by the numbers because they are motivated by dollar signs. Some of these numbers are contract related and pertain to salaries and bonuses that are given for achieving various milestones during their football career. Professional football players are very conscious of these numbers and strive to maintain an accurate accounting of them even while they are in the middle of a football game.

Some of the numbers that involve both teams during a professional football game are the numbers that show on the scoreboard. These numbers will eventually be considered in the statistics for each team at the end of the day and tell everyone who won the game that day. Those numbers might end up being tied at the end of the fourth quarter and cause the game to go into overtime.

Professional football players are usually interested in the numbers that relate to statistics such as the leader in passing, or the players who have perfected the art of rushing the quarterback during a certain number of football games. The quarterback is one individual who would really pay attention to these numbers shortly before a game is to begin or during the long week before they are to meet the record holders on the playing field.

A running back in the National Football League might be interested in what the numbers say in regards to the person who holds the record for receiving passes. The playing strategies on the field might change dramatically if an NFL player needed to surpass receiving records that totaled 100 or more. There would probably be a lot of discussion in the huddle about who should get the ball the next time the team forms up.

After the coach crunches the numbers and maps out the plays for the next down, the quarterback might be interested in making sure that other crunches are going to be avoided. The NFL team quarterback might be very concerned about the players on the opposing team who have maintained an outstanding number of sacks per game. These statistical record holders are the professional football players that a quarterback will make sure to stay out of the way of at all costs during a game.

As certain numbers are reached, there is going to be a lot of celebrating by people on a professional football team. Some players get truly jubilant after they have donned their third Super Bowl ring. Other players appreciate the numbers that reflect the attendance records for the game, and when they realize that most of the fans in attendance were on their side of the stadium, it is a fact that might cause many players to cheer.

Every NFL football player is certainly going to be interested in the number of players that will be inducted into the hall of fame. Some numbers are retired and can never be worn again on a playing field by another player. This is the ultimate honor that involves numbers that an NFL player can hope to attain after devoting many years to the game that they love to play immensely.
