There have been some interesting machines created in the last 40 years that center around videos. Some of these devices create the videos and others play them. Some of these machines are portable and small enough to carry in the palm of your hand, and others are so large that they require a separate room to house them while audiences around the world view videos.

The latest machines used by millions around the world to create videos are cellular telephones. These devices are filled with all sorts of options and people can take photographs with their cell phones too. The option to create videos with these small devices only requires that the user select videos in the cell phone menu and the user can start recording images through the photocell on the cover. These video files can be stored on the camera or transferred to a computer if the proper adapter is used.

Families find video cam recorders very useful for recording the antics of family members on outings, or places that they visit on vacation. Memorable events are often captured on video tape and shared with family and friends that stop by throughout the year. Video cam recorders allow people to see the action that they are recording through view windows, all action can be enhanced with sound effects, and titling to make sure, others know the specifics of the video many years from now.

There are many opportunities to rent videos and various methods to view them. If the movie was reproduced on VHS tapes, then the family would select a video machine with a slot in it that was sized for those tapes. Some movies were created on thin tapes and had to be fed through an intricate player. There are other videos that were created from microfiche and needed a large machines to view them. These machines are used in libraries for the most part, but some movie collectors might keep them around to view videos filmed in the 1940's to 1950's.

Movies during this time period were often damaged by the heat that was expended by the light bulb in a movie projector. Audiences knew that at any time during an afternoon feature, there was a good chance that they would view the classic brown markings of a video melting up on the large picture screen. This also occurred at drive-in movie theatres, and it was the responsibility of the projector operator to stop the machine before the entire movie melted on the spool.
