As the familiar maxim goes "say it with flowers". All year round we go about giving sprigs, bunches and bouquets of flowers to our love ones during special occasions. We know all too well that Valentine's is not complete without giving the love of your life a bouquet of red roses to embody your adoration, love and all that wishful thinking. A bunch of posies would surely light up your mom's face when you present it as a gift on Mother's day. Then there's the regular flower giving occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. Least not we forget that when it comes to impressing the woman of your dreams, you can never go wrong with a flora surprise.

In most parts of the world, Christmas is a cold but festive season. A good number of places get covered in icy white snow. This includes the shrubs, grass, trees and their blooming flowers. A flowery garden is nonexistent in snow-coated regions. So flowers are a rare sort during Christmastime. But that does not that mean that they are out of the picture. Christmas is no different from the occasions where we hand out flowers. Come to think of it, the season may present a greater call for petals and stems of flora than the other events combined.

The yuletide holidays are adorned with flowers just as much as the other festivals and celebrations that go all year through. It is not uncommon to give or receive flowers as presents during the Christmas holidays. The gesture is equally sweet, thoughtful and charming as when these posies were given in regular feasts and celebrated occasions. These petal packed things are frequently seen adorned in and embellished as a part of the cheerful decorations that epitomize the happy mood of the season.

Flowers are a terrific choice for decorations as they offer a fresh look to any ornament. We usually see a lot of metallic gold and silver linings during the festivities and a batch of flowers more often than not add a refreshing feel to the whole glittery facade. The floral ornaments are usually seen enhancing the splendor of Christmas wall hangings and garlands on staircases, banisters or over that warming fireplace. Nothing adds more beauty to that lush green than a sprig of red poinsettias or a spray of colorful orchids. With everyone being creative and artistically inspired during this merry season, flowers are also often sighted as trimmings on the Christmas tree or fully decked over the holiday wreaths that are ever so present not only on house but office or church doors all over the city. You may also see these pretty petal things set on table tops and centerpieces putting in that fresh touch of elegance on the dining table while the family toasts over a high spirited meal.

One may think that finding fresh flowers on this cold-laden holiday may prove to be a challenge - wrong. Lots of florists save the day by offering a wide collection of winter flowers that suit your festive needs. Be it roses in red, white or yellow; or carnations, tulips or orchids, there is sure to be a flower waiting for you to pick it up and smell its holiday scent.
