Best Prices On Nutritional Supplements

It might be hard for many people to determine which nutritional supplements have the best prices. The packaging labels for many nutritional supplements will include a variety of nutrients that are inside each package but the price for the package might not reflect the amount of nutrition that is actually received for the money being spent. Consumers have reach a point where they are not quite sure what they are buying when they see wording like nutritional supplement on the label.

Consumers choose a particular brand of nutritional supplements because they placed trust in the manufacturer in the past. When they review the product label, all they do know from looking at it is that the labeling reflects the nutrients that their body needs to function normally or more athletically. Consumers proceed with the purchase based on the advice of a physician or the advice of a trainer at a health club who supplements their diet with this particular product.

Since consumers rely on product labeling to guide them in making these important decisions that affect their health, the Government has taken interest and provided experts to make complex decisions. The Food and Drug Administration has written laws that require product labeling on nutritional supplements and all over the counter medications. Some loopholes in the legislation allow vague wording and numerical translation on nutritional supplements since they are sold over the counter without a prescription.

This type of labeling on nutritional supplements causes confusion among many consumers because the nutritional values are listed as percentages that are rated on a variety of scales and putting a price on a percentage is almost impossible if the exact amounts and types of nutritional supplements are not displayed. To seem more scientific to the general public marketing experts have tried to dress up packaging without identifying the nutritional supplements exactly which make up the product being purchased.

The consumer feels further confused when the nutrients in a nutritional supplement are listed on a product label on a per pill basis. The unit of measure may be abbreviated on a units per thousand measurement or per hundred and consumers rarely carry a dosage converter along with them when they are shopping for nutritional supplements. Some consumers might inquire at the pharmacy to find out information about the nutrient levels in the package and not get a clear answer to the question due to the differences in the total number of pills each container may have that is actually not reflected on the percentage labeling side but on the front of the container.

When the product labeling is listed in this manner, consumers find it easy to figure out the price per pill using simple multiplication. Product labels on nutritional supplements are often misleading in this area because the quantity does not always reflect the per pill cost for every bottle that the nutritional supplement is placed in. The same label could reflect nutritional supplement percentages that pertain to pill bottles containing 30, 60, or 90 pills. Only by looking at the front can the consumer know the true count of the bottle they are holding in their hand.
