At one time or another, you have heard of, seen or met a person who is missing one or two of his five basic senses. There are the famous blind people who had a nursery rhyme written after them, the three blind mice. You have the deaf and the mute who get by life with the use of body and sign language and perhaps lip reading. A few were unfortunate enough to lose their sense of touch when they become paralyze due to a certain disease or an ill-fated accident. These four senses have been known to be lost for a long period of time or even permanently for a number of unlucky individuals.

The last on the list, however, the sense of smell can be lost when people get a cold. It all starts off with a simple sneeze and the next time you know, your nostrils are so filled up that you find yourself having difficulty figuring out things through your sense of smell. It is fortunate however that although there has been no distinct and accurate cure for the common cold, it can be treated with water, vitamin C and a lot of rest. It is to be said then that of all the senses, it is the sense of smell that has the most favorable votes.

And with this principle in mind, we can resolve that possible the best way to get the message across is through the sense of smell. This is the reason why anything fragrant sells very well. This is because as soon as the scent reaches the nostrils, the brain correspondingly sends a signal and triggers thought and behavior based on whether the fragrance is pleasant or not. A perfect illustration would be a woman smiling after sniffing wonderfully scented red roses and a guy frowning when getting a whiff of stinky garbage. You probably figure out too that the woman with the lingering sexy scent is the one getting most of the guy's attention.

Not everyone can smell good by just plainly taking a bath with soap and water. Through the next hours, one would sweat and lose that fresh scent so fragrances were invented. As previously illustrated, fragrances can do wonders for some people. A certain perfume can give one a boost of confidence; another person a change in mood, and remind yet another individual of a very important person in his or her life. Yes, smell can bring back memories of the yesteryears. A whiff of strawberry perfume can remind you of the time when of the first you were asked out for a date by your high school sweetheart.

There are numerous variations and selection of scents and fragrances in the market today. One example is lavender, a more popular herb, which has been known to invoke feelings of calm and relaxation. Vanilla on the other hand has a sweet enticing smell. Both of these fragrances are greatly manufactured in bottles of perfume for men and mostly women to wear worldwide.
