With several children at home, it is often necessary for parents to get in the habit of recycling children's clothing instead of going to the store and buying more in larger sizes. As one child grows taller, certain things can be done to make the older clothing item suitable for other people in the house. A small child would love wearing her sister's favorite jeans to school on special jean days. This is especially true when the recycled jeans contain patches of their favorite cartoon characters.

Parents can begin recycling children's clothing when the baby starts to walk. The bibs that protected shirts and dresses can be transformed into some sort of wall art. These little decorative touches will save money for child care expenses and make the child feel that they are living in a personalized world because their name is projected in many places on the walls of the world they live in. Fathers will often use baby bibs to wipe off sweat on their hands while bowling because the whole family gets involved when it come time to begin recycling children's clothing.

Plaid skirts that are part of the school uniform might be changed during the summer. Instead of throwing those skirts out, the Mother will often find some other way to use them. Recycling children's clothing might entail some sewing projects, but those plaid skirts might turn into new cushions for the sofa or a new bedspread for a child's bedroom in a dollhouse. Parents will often collect buttons from old shirts to use later on school projects assigned throughout the year. When creativity is graded on these projects, children will quickly see the benefits of recycling children's clothing.

Even an old football jersey can be turned into decorative devices. Recycling children's clothing from last football season might require some glue and some refined stitching handiwork, but the finished design will be perfect for a small boy to lay their head on at night. A professional football players number that has been transferred to curtain borders might make a child dream of playing football professionally one day. Recycling professional football jerseys can bring large cash rewards when parents place them up for bids on auction websites.

With a few embellishments, any type of recycled clothing can look like new again. Bright ribbons can be stitched along hems in pants to make them fit again in length and allow the child to get one more year of use from them. Colorful fabrics can be added to the hemlines of those pants at some point during the following year to make the adjustment to a larger pant size less noticeable and more colorful.

Recycling children's clothing might take some work but the effort will be well worth it when the family can afford to take a vacation in the spring each year. The family might even spring for pizza more often or pitch in and be very generous by taking the whole family to the movies. Parents will also reap great benefits at tax time by recycling children's clothing because every donation is tax deductible. Those savings add up fast and families get motivated more to begin recycling children's clothing for the next tax year.
